Home Improvement Stocks Vie With Tech for an Investor Reckoning

hari drack

(Bloomberg) — Global tech stocks aren’t the only ones due an investor checkup. Home improvement companies have also surged during the pandemic, and it’s fair to ask if this is as good as it gets.

An equal-weighted basket of 30 of the world’s biggest home improvement companies is up 23% this year, easily besting the 2% rise in the MSCI AC World Index, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. The gauge has almost doubled from its March lows, outpacing even the 63% rise in the high-flying Nasdaq-100 Index.

The gains have left stocks in the basket — including U.S. giant Home Depot Inc., Kingfisher Plc from the U.K. and Germany’s Hornbach Holding AG — trading on an average of 25 times forward earnings, up from 19 times at the end of February.

Beyond the arched entry are formal living and dining rooms, an updated country-vibe kitchen, a breakfast room, two bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. A paneled den sits at the end of a long hallway and has a brick fireplace and a wet bar.

French doors lead outside, where succulents and other drought-tolerant landscaping surround a tiled patio. Also on the property is a two-car garage.

Assistant coach Mike Kitchen won’t return to Florida Panthers amid report he kicked player

hari drack

SUNRISE, Fla. — Assistant coach Mike Kitchen will not return to the Florida Panthers next season among a series of staffing changes announced Tuesday.

Canada’s TSN reported Kitchen kicked a Panthers player on the bench during a game in January, and the team held an internal investigation. A team spokeswoman did not immediately respond to an email seeking confirmation.

Kitchen opted out of coaching in the NHL’s postseason for personal reasons, saying in July: “It was a difficult decision to say the least but the right decision for me and my family.” The 64-year-old rejoined coach Joel Quenneville behind the bench this season for the first time since 2016-17, and the two won the Stanley Cup together twice with Chicago.

TSN reported Quenneville and former general manager Dale Tallon were notified of the incident after the game. The team did not renew Tallon’s contract and last month hired Bill Zito
